So….where was I?
Five years ago, right about this time, I was preparing for our 30th Duck birthday by gathering memories, collecting my thoughts and combing through old photo albums (remember those?) to share the story of our beginning with all of you.
I had gotten all the way to March with my stories and was feeling pretty good about piecing together our history.
And then, well, as you may recall, all of that came to a screeching halt.
We found ourselves in the midst of a global pandemic.
The first of June, our 30th anniversary day, came and went quietly.
So now, here we are, five years later…and wondering how we might celebrate our 35th year in business.
At first we imagined a giant all day party under a great big tent.
Our idea was to invite all of the artists that helped us reach this milestone anniversary. And, of course, we hoped that all of you would come to celebrate with us.
Our great big party would start at noon and go until midnight! It took a few days of thinking and dreaming about our great big party before we came to the realization that there would not be enough hours in one day to celebrate all of the incredible talent that has graced our stage over the years.
And, our Duck family is vast, so vast that if even a small percentage of our beloved duckers were to turn up on that one music packed day, our great big tent would be filled to overflowing and the Fire Marshall would not be happy with us.
Okay, maybe no big tent. And maybe not all on one day.
So, if one whole day won’t do it, how about one whole month?
One whole month may not even be long enough…but it’s a good start.
June 1st marks the official beginning of our 35th year and our incredible 35th Anniversary month calendar will soon be on its way to you.
