Susan Hickman started singing before she could talk in full sentences. Her mother taught her harmonies through hymns. She picked up piano at five, violin a few years later, and taught herself guitar in her twenties back home in Atascocita, Texas.

At twelve she found talent agencies in the Houston Yellow Pages and started working. Her mother went along for the ride, business trips, radio tours, honky-tonk shows that ran late.

CMA Close Up named her one of its “Who’s New to Watch” artists in 2010. She’s since shared stages with Gary Allan, Miranda Lambert, Jo Dee Messina, Shenandoah, Easton Corbin, Dean Dillon, Robert Earl Keen, Daryle Singletary and plenty more. She played Nashville’s CMA Music Festival, the Country Music Messe in Berlin, and France’s Country Rendez-Vous Festival, and was named Texas CMA Female Vocalist of the Year in 2015. She’s also one of three official artists for the 6666 Grit & Glory brand, built on the Four Sixes Ranch’s 150 years of Texas ranching heritage.

Her albums “Susan Hickman” and “Louder Than Words Vol 1” picked up coverage from Country Weekly, American Songwriter, Country Music People and Dreamwest. Music Row’s Robert K. Oermann called her “quite a vocalist” on her single “Hell Still Ain’t Frozen Over.”
