About the event

Pat Byrne, an Irish singer-songwriter, has experienced significant success in his home country and is now making a mark in America. Manager and Irish influencer Louis Walsh once said that Byrne could “crack America,” and it seems he’s on a mission to do just that. Since relocating to Austin, Byrne has drawn comparisons to artists like Shakey Graves and David Ramirez. He has performed at SXSW, the Kerrville Folk Festival, and AmericanaFest.

In 2021, Byrne released Into the Light, an introspective album characterized by raw emotion and a mix of intimate confessionals and anthemic rock ’n’ roll. Originally planned to begin recording in March 2020, the album’s production was delayed due to the pandemic lockdown, which ultimately gave Byrne time to reflect, hone his craft, and channel his frustration into his music. He also launched a weekly livestream that has since become a residency at McGonigel’s Mucky Duck’s Live from Norfolk Street.

Byrne’s storytelling, gritty vocal style, and poignant lyrics have earned him rave reviews from critics. His voice has been compared to that of the late Austin troubadour Jimmy LaFave by the Austin American-Statesman. Tom Buckley of Texas Music Magazine highlighted Byrne’s ability to blend contemporary and old-school styles, noting his universal acclaim and bright future. Whether performing in America or abroad, Pat Byrne’s light shines bright.
