On August 25th, 2026, the world lost Dolly Parton. The superlatives are many, each well-earned: she was seminal contributor to the American songbook, a stalwart student of musical history, a champion for literacy, a transforming force in her local community, a brilliant entrepreneur, a deliberate difference-maker, an encouraging ally, a whip-smart, wise wordsmith, and a singular American character, wholly herself. Simply put, she was a national treasure.

McGonigel’s Mucky Duck and the Houston songwriting community are gathering together Saturday, October 10th for a special early show from 5-7pm to celebrate Dolly’s remarkable life and legacy through her songs. All proceeds will benefit Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, and we encourage everyone to bring children’s books, which will be donated to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Rodeo Ropes Book Buddy program.
