Mary Battiata & Little Pink is the ongoing alt-country, Country, Americana, twang-folk-pop project of singer-songwriter Mary Battiata (pronounced Baa-tea-ah-ta – it’s Italian). The band name is an homage to The Band’s Music From Big Pink. Other influences: Dolly Parton, Hank Williams, Hazel Dickens, George Jones, the Feelies, Aftermath and Flowers, to name a few.
Mary’s new CD, The Heart, Regardless, debuted at No. 7 on the Freeform American Roots (FAR) chart in September 2017, and in January 2018 was named one of the top 30 Honky Tonk Albums for 2017 by Honky Tonk Daily (Austin TX). It features 13 original songs, plus Mary’s cover of a modern honky-tonk classic by Baltimore-based songwriter Arty Hill.
The Heart, Regardless was co-produced by Mary and Dave Nachodsky and features a standout band of veteran Country and Bluegrass players from the Mid-Atlantic and beyond including Tim Pruitt, Alex Weber, Dave Hadley and Ed Hough, along with special guests Dudley Connell (The Seldom Scene), Mike Munford (2013 IBMA Banjo Player of the Year), Patrick McAvinue (Daily and Vincent), Ray Eicher, Larry Ferguson, Willem Elsevier, Anna Roberts-Gevalt, John Shock, Chris Watling and more. The record is available in CD and digital download from CD Baby, iTunes and Amazon, and streaming, on Spotify.
