Texas troubadours Libby Koch & Michael O’Connor celebrate the upcoming release of their new album, Gulf Coast Duets, at the Duck on Tuesday, August 26^th.

At the 2024 Rockport Songwriter Festival, festival organizer and Grammy-winning producer John Macy overheard Libby and Michael making plans to try and write an old school country duet together sometime.

This led to an invitation from Macy to gather at his Coastal Bend Studios overlooking Aransas Bay in Rockport to write and record what would become not just one duet but a ten-song collection in Gulf Coast Duets.

Over the course of a few days, Koch, a native Houstonian, and O’Connor, a son of Corpus Christi, crafted a series of stories and songs shaped by the singular characters and salty culture of their Texas Gulf Coast hometowns and haunts.

Eight original songs are joined by tributes to local legends Guy Clark (Boats to Build) and Nanci Griffith (Gulf Coast Highway). Continuing in the grand tradition of these Texas songwriters,

Michael O’Connor, a native Texan residing in Washington State, is a well respected guitarist and singer-songwriter celebrated for his soulful voice and gritty storytelling. Inducted with a star into the South Texas Walk of Fame and honored in the Corpus Christi Songwriter Hall of Fame, O’Connor’s contributions to the music scene are widely recognized and revered. A lifetime of hard-won experience on- and off-stage has allowed Michael a rare insight into the world of the rough, the faithless, the romantic, and the unlucky, all of whom find refuge in his songs.
