Galveston native Hamilton Loomis grew up in a house full of instruments and records. With musician parents steeped in blues, rock, and soul, he naturally became a multi-instrumentalist, performing in his family’s doo-wop group and writing music rooted in the sounds he grew up with.
“I’ve always had deep respect for the blues,” Loomis says. “But I also love R&B and funk—that groove has always pulled me in.”
At 16, Loomis met Bo Diddley backstage at Houston’s Rockefeller’s. By the end of the night, he was onstage playing with the icon, who later became a mentor and appeared on two of Loomis’ albums. Diddley also gave him a red guitar he still plays.
“Bo was generous in ways most people never saw,” Loomis says. “He played free shows for shelters and schools. That inspired my GIVE IT BACK mindset.”
Onstage, Loomis is pure energy. Blues Blast Magazine called his live show “a non-stop turbo of power.” He thrives on crowd connection.
“Music moves me,” he says. “When it’s real, people feel it. A live show should be shared—something we all experience together.”
