Online tickets sales end at 5 PM on the day of the show!

This is a general admission show. We do not have reserved seating today. Seating will be on a first come basis. Festival style food will be available.  We will be serving our fabulous Fish and Chips, Beef Guinness, Shepherd's Pie and Corned Beef & Cabbage all day.

Each March 17th for the past 26 years we have worked to bring to Houston a family-friendly celebration of the feast day of Ireland's patron saint, Saint Patrick.  As part of our festival, our entire property is covered under a big-top tent and we showcase traditional and contemporary Celtic music and dance inside and outside the Duck throughout the day. There is seating in both areas on a first come - first served basis.

What we celebrate on St. Patrick's Day is the whole of Celtic culture, and a musical tradition that, over the centuries, has become as much American roots music as bottleneck guitar. The drums of western Africa are what gave American music its rhythm; more often than not, though, the melody is Celtic.

The popularity of Celtic folk music is either a testament to the timeless appeal of these sometimes haunting, sometimes hilarious, sometimes jig-inspiring tunes, or perhaps an argument in favor of the nebulous theory of racial memory.

For the celebration, our entire property is covered under a big-top tent and we showcase traditional and contemporary Celtic music and dance inside and outside the Duck throughout the day. There is seating in both areas on a first come - first served basis.

Piper Jones Band

So, a bagpiper, a bouzouki player, and a drummer walk into an Irish pub… and they proceed to rock the joint! The Piper Jones Band has been playing on both sides of the Atlantic for several years and recently put out a new album. They've played McGonigel's Mucky Duck before and we're happy to have them back for St. Patrick's Day 2017, bringing their foot stomping brand of Celtic music centered on the Highland bagpipes for the biggest Irish party of the year.

Clann Kelly Irish Dancers

In the spirit of the season, we're bringing in a cool group of Irish dancers for two performances, and they're from right here in Houston. Clann Kelly is a local Irish dance school, only recently opened, but brimming with talent and energy. Under the direction of Anne Kelly, they've already made a big splash in the regional dance scene, and we can't wait to bring them up on stage to watch how they step.

Kristin Coyle & The Black Swans

Frances Cunningham

Every bar and pub has its regulars, but some of them are a little more regular than others. Frances Cunningham started off playing the Mucky Duck 20 years ago. She went on to become a regular at the Grand Ole Opry after moving to Nashville, so it's going to be great having her back again. It just wouldn't feel like St. Patrick's Day without her! While she's been knocking around with the Piper Jones Band the last couple years, she's also been working on a solo album, and we're looking forward to hearing some new material. If you've been wondering what a well-played Irish bouzouki sounds like, Frances is our go-to player and we hope you'll enjoy her sound.

Drake Irish Dancers

We're all for real traditional fun for St. Patrick's Day (we only serve traditional Irish beer, which is black, not green). The Drake Irish Dancers have been keeping the tradition of Irish dancing alive in the Houston area for more than 30 years, and we're excited to have them dancing for us. With a roster of championship performers, you can expect plenty of lively stepping to fine Irish tunes when they take the stage.

Whitney Rose

Do Canadians even celebrate St. Patrick's Day? We're not sure, but at least one Canadian will be here and belting out some old fashioned Texas-style country. Fresh off her recently released EP, Whitney Rose has been making her way around the Southwest and she'll be stopping off at the Mucky Duck on her way home to Austin to give us a little change-up for our slate of performing artists. Raise your glasses while Whitney raises the roof.

Master of Ceremonies -
Jim MacKenzie

For a party this size, we know that we need somebody to help keep things lively between acts, somebody who could thank the performers for their good show and introduce the next act. And maybe stall for time if things got mixed up backstage, tell a few jokes, and keep the crowd warmed up. And maybe do a little sword swallowing if the crowd got a bit restless. Lucky for us, and for our audience, local Houston comic Jim MacKenzie fits the bill quite nicely. It's going to be a long day and there's plenty of Jim's brand of comedy style to go around. Just make sure you've chewed and swallowed your latest bite of fish and chips before he gets on!

Martin Burniston's
Irish Singalong

For more than 25 years, Martin Burniston has been bringing holiday cheer with his Christmas Singalong here at the Mucky Duck. With that kind of record, we figured it was a good idea to have him back for St. Patrick's Day as well. We know the man can sing and can lead an audience well enough. And being Minister of Entertainment for the Kerr County Celtic Association ensures that he'll bring plenty of craic to the party. So grab a Guinness and join Martin in a round of "Molly Malone" and other traditional Irish songs for St. Patty’s Day on the 17th.
