Saint Patrick's Day Celebration. Traditional Irish music.  Irish dance. Irish food. Irish drink. All make for a day of Irish craic (fun)!

2018 will be the Duck's 29th year as Houston's home for family-friendly St. Patrick's Day celebration. Food and drink booths outside under a big top tent will feature Ms. Bonnie's famous fish and chips, shepherd's pie, beef Guinness, corned beef and cabbage, and, of course, her homemade bread pudding with Jameson's Irish Whiskey Sauce.

Renown piper EJ Jones assembled the finest players from around the country to play at the Duck this year in celebration of Ireland's Patron Saint. We will have stages inside and out to make the most of the day, featuring the artists below.

Did you hear? The Irish Faerie's are coming! Bring your wee ones to enjoy a tea party, treats, and crafts with Rowan, Titania and Crystal. The faerie tea party will be magical! Seating for the faerie tea party is limited, be sure to purchase your Faerie Tea Party ticket in advance. The tea party ticket price includes the children's general admission for the festival, as well as entrance to Faerie Land. (suggested for children ages 5 and up.) Wings and glitter are welcome!

The Irish Faerie's will be on hand to teach the children an Irish song and dance.  Amuricatx will bring their vintage trailer photo booth for a keepsake photo. Pipers. Dancers. Fiddles and faeries. With something for everyone, this will be a day to remember!

For the first time, we will offer "save me a seat" with the Emerald Reserve Ticket. These special tickets for those that are 21 and up will secure admittance to a reserved seating area, a designated server, and a souvenir pint glass.

There will be two seating times for the reserved area, 11am-4pm and 4:30pm until closing.  For those who purchase the second seating at 4:30pm, your Emerald Reserve Tickets allows for General Admission at 11:00am, your reserved seating will be available at 4:30pm.
You must be over 21 for entrance to the Emerald Reserve seating area.

Kristin Coyle & the Black Swans
11:15. 4:00, 7:45, 9:30

From out of the doldrums comes the wind. A new era of Irish rock is approaching. Where the bedrock of blues and the verdant tides of traditional Irish music meet comes the sound of Kristin Coyle and the Black Swans.  Feisty fiddling is accompanied by a weaving electric guitar and a healthy dose of drum swagger.

Clandestine
3:00, 7:00pm

Clandestine is hard-driving, toe-tapping Texas Celtic sound. Formed in 1991, the band is known for their brand of blasting tune sets and fresh songs. Piper EJ Jones and fiddler Gregory McQueen lead the tunes with the full force of their individual musical energies. Al Cofrin brings cittern and occasionally another set of bagpipes to the mix.

Percussionist and singer Emily Dugas captivates with her original song collaborations with Al, as well as her singular interpretations of songs in the Celtic genre. EJ and Al also join Emily on vocals, with many songs now set in three-part harmony.

The Here and Now
5:15, 8:30pm

Chris Buckley (fiddle), Niamh Fahy (fiddle), Rob Forkner (Bodhran) and Joseph Carmichael (guitar, whistle/flute) have brought their considerable talents together with The Here and Now, a high energy Irish band blending an Irish traditional sound with a contemporary flair.  Chris spent the last decade as a member of the renowned Irish trio, The Tea Merchants. Niamh, originally from Co. Meath Ireland was a soloist with Riverdance for five years and worked with The Young Irelanders, The Dhol Foundation, Donal Lunny & The Chieftans before moving to Austin.  Rob is a master Bodhran player and one of the world's most highly sought after Irish drum makers. He, along with Chris, is a founding member of the Tea Merchants.  Joseph, a founding member of the Irish music trio, Flashpoint, tours regularly with Mari Black and Ashley Davis.
Together they are The Here and Now.

Frances Cunningham
1:15, 3:00, 5:15, 8:45

Every pub has its regulars, but some of them are a little more regular than others. Frances Cunningham started off playing twenty years ago as a regular Irish Session player every Wednesday night at the Duck.
We were all sad to see her move to Nashville, but the road was calling. Not long after moving to Nashville Frances became a "regular" once again. This time at the Grand Ole Opry.
However, there's nothing "regular" about her playing! You will recognize her extraordinary talent the moment she picks up her Irish bouzouki.

Drake Irish Dancers
12:45

With a roster of championship performers, you can expect plenty of lively stepping to fine Irish tunes when they take the stage.

Pat Byrne

from Borris, County Carlow. Byrne won the “The Voice of Ireland," in 2012. Pat's voice strikes an emotional chord with his audience; ranging from seductive whisper one moment, to full-bodied rock 'n' roll growl the next. If you want to see one of the great success stories from the sundry of talent show winners, this is a can't miss.
