KIMBERLY M'CARVER

M'Carver's lyrics are simultaneously conversational and poetic -- an irresistible blend -- and her wounded soprano is the perfect instrument for spinning these yarns - New Country Magazine, Nashville TN

Here's acoustic folk-country in Texas singer-songwriter style showcasing the sweetest clearest voice since Emmylou first fried you - Folk Roots, England

Combining a mix of Nanci Griffith country-folk modernism and Loretta Lynn blue-collar strength, M'Carver has forged a collection of songs and performances that most country artists would love to call their own - Houston Chronicle, Houston TX

Kimberly’s a homegrown (Mesquite) Texas singer-songwriter with releases on Rounder Records & Prime CD that drew national nominations & landed squarely (thank you) on the Americana chart. Houston nominations include Songwriter of the Year, Best Acoustic/Folk & critic's pick for Best Female Vocalist.

Her song, Serious Doubt, was recorded by Grammy-winner Jeannie Kendall (w/Allison Moorer). Her songs have been featured in cd compilations for Texas Monthly, Texas Highways, Kerrville End of the Century, & Rounder Heritage’s Singer-Songwriter Collection. She’s toured the US, UK & Europe, playing festivals including Lincoln Center Outdoors Concert, Glasgow Scotland’s Big Big Country Festival, & Seattle's Bumbershoot - tv appearances include Texas Music Café & Houston Weeknight Edition.

MIKE STROUP and the Acoustic Crackerjacks

“Mike's love of guitar playing and traditional American music started as a boy growing up in southern Ohio. He knew he wanted to play guitar as he watched and listened to his two uncles play. The music of the region and his proximity to the mountains put him in constant contact with folk, bluegrass, and classic country music. Nashville wasn't too far away, and on occasion he was able to see the greats perform live.

When he came to Texas in the 80's, he was primarily interested in becoming a bluegrass musician, and later grew to incorporate Western Swing, Folk, Americana and old Cowboy music into his repertoire, which was a natural compliment to the styles he had grown up with. He began to attend local open mic's and teamed up with others to begin playing in various combos around the region.

After many years of playing rhythm guitar, Mike began to take his turn at lead guitar. Mike regularly joins up with other talented veteran musicians of the genre to play for audiences at live music venues, old dance halls and private events in Houston, Austin and around the state. As was the case with greats such as Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, these musicians play by ear and have a musical spontaneity, making for a very entertaining show.

Houston audiences also remember Mike from when he hosted a radio show in the 80’s on Houston's KPFT featuring the traditional American music and local artists.”
